Raila's Tough Reaction After Chebukati Declared Uhuru Winner Of Repeat Election.

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has hit back at the IEBC after declaring Uhuru Kenyatta the president elect in the repeat election.

In a statement through his political adviser Salim Lone, Raila has dismissed Uhuru's controversial win and reiterated that civil disobedience is the way to go. Terming it a pseudo-election, Raila said IEBC confirmed Uhuru a dictator who wants to subvert the will of the people and rule with an iron fist.

"He (Uhuru) needed massive rigging to hide the fact that an abysmally low number of Kenyans turned out to vote – a total of 2.5 million or less than 20% of registered voters, as KIEMS had clearly showed.

This is a massive show of no confidence in Uhuru and if he had any dignity he would step aside and allow a free, fair and credible election, and finally earn the respect of the people," the statement read.
Raila thanked his supporters for heeding to his call to boycott the election.

He added that the absence of international observers at the Bomas when Uhuru was declared winner was an indication the election was a sham.

Raila further termed IEBC a travesty as it was 'determined to name Uhuru president and had no compunction about doing this through a patently sham election'.

He condemned the alleged failure of the KIEMS to accept biometric data which saw IEBC resort to manual voting and transmission of results. "We were very pleased to note today that very few of our vocal envoys attended the declaration of results at Bomas.

We hope this marks a re-commitment on their part to be the true friends of Kenyans rather than the friends of an illegitimate government," the statement read further. Raila reiterated that his NASA will continue with its 'unprecedented campaign of civil resistance and non-cooperation, which is designed to peacefully end the decades of crime, impunity and utter disregard for the welfare of its people'.

As reported by The Evening Post, the former premier is expected to make a 'grand announcement' on Tuesday, October 25, where he will give his supporters a way forward. NASA wants fresh and credible elections to be held within 90 days. Uhuru was declared winner with over 7.4 million votes.
